Sugar Syrup

Ø  1 ½  cup Sugar

Ø  1 cup Water

Ø  1 teaspoon Lemon juice

Ø  1 teaspoon Rose water

Cooking Steps:

Preheat oven to 180 C.

Preparing Sugar Syrup

In a saucepan add 1 ½ Cup Sugar and 1 Cup Water and boil until it becomes sticky and comes to a syrup consistency. It should have a two string consistency.

Remove the sugar syrup from the heat, add lemon juice and rose water. Stir and keep it aside.

Preparing Filling

Heat 1 Cup Milk and add Corn Flour and whisk vigorously without forming lumps. Boil it in a low flame and once it thickens, add rose water and allow the milk custard to cool completely.

Preparing Kunafa Crust

1.       Break the strands of Kunafa dough (strands) with hands. Add melted butter and mix well to coat the dough well. Now divide the quantity of coated strands into two.

2.       Take the baking pan lined with parchment paper and greased with butter. Add half of the kunafa dough to the bottom and press well into even layer.

3.       Pour the milk pudding and spread evenly.

4.       Sprinkle the shredded Mozzarella Cheese above the pudding.

5.       Next add the other half of the dough and press down gently.

6.       Add chopped pistachios at top.

Baking:

Place the Kunafa in the pre-heated oven and bake for about 30 to 40 minutes until the top turns brown and crispy.

Serve:

Once the kunafa is baked, allow it cool and pour half of the sugar syrup at top.

Flip it and transfer it to plate and pour the remaining sugar syrup and garnish on top with some chopped pistachios.

 Best served hot.
